Bethesda, MD (July 14, 2010) - Two of  Suburban Hospital’s physicians, Dr. Carolyn Hendricks, medical oncologist, and Dr. Pamela Wright, surgeon and Associate Medical Director of Breast Services for the Suburban Hospital Cancer Care Program, recently received the Healthcare Hero award from the Olney Relay for Life chapter of the American Cancer Society.

The Healthcare Hero award is given each year to health-care providers in the Washington, DC metropolitan area who have made a significant difference in the life of a cancer patient/survivor by going above and beyond the ‘call of duty.’

The award was presented to both Dr. Hendricks and Dr. Wright during a special ceremony at the Olney Relay for Life event in June.

"I was so honored to be acknowledged by my patients as a Healthcare Hero,” said Dr. Pamela Wright. “The Relay for Life event was geared towards the cancer patients, so I thought it was incredible that they took the time to award health-care professionals. I am grateful for my patients and I thank them for allowing me to continue doing what I love to do."
