BETHESDA, Md. (April 29, 2010) – Suburban Hospital’s Joint Replacement Program has been designated a Blue Distinction® Center for knee and hip replacement by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. This designation is given to healthcare facilities typically hospitals that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality healthcare.

In addition to excellent clinical outcomes, Suburban Hospital’s Joint Program provides family/patient education, a personal coach, group physical therapy at its on-site gym, and continually embraces emerging technology and new techniques to benefit patients.

Since its inception in 2006, Blue Distinction has recognized facilities that meet objective, evidence-based thresholds for clinical quality, developed in collaboration with expert physicians and medical organizations. The goal of this designation is to help consumers find quality specialty care on a consistent basis, while enabling and encouraging healthcare professionals to improve the overall quality and delivery of care.
