BETHESDA, Md. (April 29, 2010) – Suburban Hospital’s Joint Replacement Program has been designated a Blue Distinction® Center for knee and hip replacement by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. This designation is given to healthcare facilities – typically hospitals – that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality healthcare.
In addition to excellent clinical outcomes, Suburban Hospital’s Joint Program provides family/patient education, a personal coach, group physical therapy at its on-site gym, and continually embraces emerging technology and new techniques to benefit patients.
Since its inception in 2006, Blue Distinction has recognized facilities that meet objective, evidence-based thresholds for clinical quality, developed in collaboration with expert physicians and medical organizations. The goal of this designation is to help consumers find quality specialty care on a consistent basis, while enabling and encouraging healthcare professionals to improve the overall quality and delivery of care.
