School @ Work

School at Work (SAW) is a career development system for entry-level healthcare workers who desire to advance in their careers. It is a bridge program that prepares employees for better-paying jobs and entrance to certificate and degree programs at local colleges. It uses a blended instructional model (coach, career counselor, DVDs, Internet, workbooks). After completing the program, graduates are ready for a variety of opportunities with new skills such as time management, written communication, and math.

College @ Work

Suburban Hospital's College @ Work program is for SAW graduates who are pursuing a college degree program. During the college term, a coach is available three days per week to work with students who are taking online courses or need study assistance. This is one of the ways that Suburban Hospital supports employees as they seek career advancement.

Emerging Leaders

The Emerging Leaders Program is designed for employees who desire advancement in their careers through either a clinical or a management path. Emerging Leaders participate in 16 hours of class time and then work on a group project that benefits the hospital. Throughout the program, coaches and facilitators are available. After completing the program, the graduates’ new skills and competencies prepare them for a variety of new opportunities and even greater challenges. Graduates maybe called upon to serve on one of the hospital’s many multi-disciplinary teams or to work on a special project.

Cornerstones of Healthcare Management

This program is designed for supervisors, managers, directors, and vice presidents who supervise other employees, are responsible for performance improvement, or are responsible for performance evaluations. It consists of a series of five, two-hour courses per year and covers a variety of management topics.
